Curriculum Introduction


Our school uses stories as a systematic and holistic strategy to children's learning. It makes use of daily life scenario as themes, accompanies with Whole Language Approach, Program Research, enriches the children's life experience and interests. With the extended series of diversified exploration activities and games, the children will be accustomed in learning on their own and their learning interests and ability will be established.

Curriculum Goals:

Children's active exploration and building up learning abilities.
Children possess self- esteem, and build up attitudes and abilities to get along with others.
Children develop healthy lifestyle, and coordination of physical movements, for strong physique.
Children can appreciate beautiful and heart waving things and interested in using different media, such as art activities, to express emotions.


Curriculum Features

​​​​​​​Through play and diverse activities, our curriculum aims as nurturing children's interest in learning and to improve their thinking ability. The core value of our curriculum is 'Children-center'. Through different themes-accompanied stories, designed and Whole Language Approach activities, the self-motivated learning potential of the children will be promoted, and therefore achieving the development of moral, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic.

Our curriculum makes use of both Chinese and English story books and integrating them into other learning and developmental areas. Though systemic and diversified daily life experiences, different formats of exploratory outdoor activities are held regularly, e.g. outdoor physical activities, outdoor shopping, visits, parent-child outing and pay visits to community members, etc.


Whole Language Approach

Whole Language Approach centers around story-teaching to inspire children's learning. We make use of story books that align with our teaching themes, while designing whole language approach activities, focusing on children's daily experience and interests. A series of diversified interest activities will also be extended. This cultivates the motivation, interests and abilities of the children through stories, exploration activities and different games.

Children's Program Research Activities

Our school organizes Children Program Research Activities regularly. Our teachers will let the children conduct investigative research on a particular theme based on their daily life experience and interests. In the activities, they will conduct exploration, observation, collect information and establish their attitude towards problem solving.

Emotional Education

When the children encounter new environment and meet up new faces, the most important thing for them is security, which is also the primary condition whether the children could get involved in their school life and focus in their learning. Therefore, our school values Emotional Education. Our teachers immerse Emotional Education naturally into the children's daily routine. Children will distinguish different emotions and be able to express their feelings. Our teachers will also use positive emotions as a driving force for the children, to allow them to attain joyful and stable emotions, from which they establish a positive self-image. Children will be growing in a secure and loved environment, allowing their healthy upbringing.

​​​​​​​Our school immense Emotional Education into daily activities and daily life scenarios, guiding the children to distinguish and accept different emotions, learning the appropriate ways to express their emotions.
Our school provides「自尊自信成長樂」Parents Education Course, in assisting the parents in nurturing their children, establish the correct attitude and effective method in parenting, to promote their relations with the children and to promote the self-esteem and confidence of their children.
The Course organizes Parent-Child Activities, Parents' Seminars and Tutorial Groups to further provide supports to the parents


Perceptual Motor Activities

Our school makes use of life skills training, games and activities to sharpen the discernment of all senses of the children, increase their muscle endurance, stability of arms and wrists, mobility of fingers and hand-eye coordination, to prepare for their foundations in reading, writing and learning.

For this purpose, TWGHs has published a series of 'Perceptual Motor Parent-child Training Games' 「感知肌能親子訓練遊戲」to comply with the daily training of the children, to establish the children with the foundation skills and abilities before writing, to promote their language learning and holistic development.

Life Skills Training

Since 2011, our school has introduced the education philosophy of Montessori to elevate the design of the environment, and to build the children's training for daily life. The children will have chance to learn how to take care of themselves and their environment. They learn by doing, and further establish their sequencing and coordination. When the children are working independently, they will be calmer and be more concentrated.

Parent Education

Resident Social Workers will host different Parents' Seminars and Workshops for parents to understand the children's emotions and childcare and parenting techniques, as well as to help them attain physical and mental health. Each newcomer's parent will be provided with the「自尊自信成長樂」course, for them to understand the mental development of their children, helping them to establish good parent-child relations, to grasp the techniques in family teaching, and to nurture the self-esteem and confidence of their children.

Foster creativity, Whole-person development

'Leap!'


Since 2009, our school has joined the 'Leap! Body Education Program', a program initiated by The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation and co-organized with Taiwan Cloud Gate Dance School. This program is designed for our aged 4 to 6 children (K2 and K3). The program aims to increase our children's understanding of their bodies through play, exploration of the world, through music and the guidance of the instructors, to create different bodily shapes. With the cooperation with others, they further learn to respect and understand others. Starting from July 2014, TWGHs was appointed as the executive management to the program, with continual funding support from The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation on the curriculum developed by the Taiwan Cloud Gate Dance School.

Pre-school Special Education Service

On-site Pre-school Rehabilitation Service (OPRS)


TWGHs provide On-site Pre-school Rehabilitation Service -陽光孩子計劃 (OPRS) for children with special needs. This programme team composes of Education Psychologists, Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Senior Special Pre-school Teachers and Special Pre-school teachers, to provide early training through on-site or center-based services, and to provide support for parents in need.

Education Bureau Support Services

[Education Services for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students]


With the funding of Education Bureau, we recruit more teachers / assistants to support Non Chinese Speaking students to learn Chinese in a context rich language environment. We have also participated the professional development programmes organised by Education Bureau. In 2020-21 school year, we have taken 10 NCS students, including students from Pakistan, India, Britain, Thailand. In 2020/21 school year, we, have joined the ‘Start from the Beginning – Chinese Supporting Scheme for Non-Chinese Speaking Students in Kindergarten’jointly organized by the Faculty of Education, The University of Hong Kong, The Education University of Hong Kong, Oxfam Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Council of Social Service, as a third phase network kindergarten. Our teachers have also attended the professional development programmes regarding learning and teaching for non-Chinese speaking students (foundation course 2019-2020) organized by Education Bureau.
